Tunbridge Wells Borough Council is inviting quotations for the preparation of an Open Space, Sport and Recreation Study.


The Council requires a study that has been prepared consistent with the National Planning Policy Framework (NPPF) and the Government’s latest advice contained within the National Planning Practice Guidance (NPPG). It is anticipated the study will broadly follow the approach and format of that prescribed through the now revoked Planning Policy Guidance (PPG) 17: Planning for Open space, Sport and Recreation. The findings of the study will inform the approach and policies in relation to open space, sport and recreation for the council’s new Local Plan.

In line with the Queensland Treasury Program Evaluation Guidelines, the Queensland Recreation Centres’ Coast Club and Themed Programs are required to be evaluated to examine appropriateness, efficiency and effectiveness. The Department of National Parks, Sport and Racing (the department) has a requirement to continually raise the quality and quantity of services provided at SRS Venues to meet its objective of increasing participation in sport and recreation. Development of a Venues’ Strategy (VS) is required to drive key strategic outcomes for Sport and Recreation Services (SRS) to provide clear direction on the future role, function and investment preference for the department and its Venues:

1. Gold Coast Recreation Centre (GCRC)

  • Vison - For the QRec Centres (Gold Coast and Sunshine Coast) to be the premier recreation centres in Australia – provide well maintained, sustainable, safe and accessible venues.

2. Sunshine Coast Recreation Centre (SCRC)

  • Vision: For the QRec Centres (Gold Coast and Sunshine Coast) to be the premier recreation centres in Australia – provide well maintained, sustainable, safe and accessible venues.

3. Toowoomba Sports Ground (TSG) 

  • Vision: To be a premier boutique sport, recreation and events venue in south west Queensland.

4. Townsville Sport and Recreation Precinct (TSRP)

  • Vision: To be North Queensland’s premier multi-purpose sport and recreation facility in North Queensland.

5. Sports House Milton (SHM)

  • Vision: To provide functional, fit-for-purpose and well maintained sports house which support the sport and recreation industry.

 

Security Services Townsville Sport and Recreation Precinct

The Townsville Sport and Recreation Precinct (TSRP) is owned by the Queensland Government and managed by Sport and Recreation Services (SRS), a division of the Department of National Parks, Sport and Racing (the Department).  The TSRP is a multi-purpose International standard regional sports venue incorporating facilities of the Townsville Sports Reserve and Townsville Sports House situated approximately 2km from the CBD on Warburton Street North Ward

Whilst the recreation facilities are staffed by SRS employees during daylight Monday to Friday operating hours, it is critical that SRS maintains a mobile security service outside such hours using fully trained security professionals in addition to an alarm monitoring and response service.

Contract Term: initial 12months + 4 x 12month extension options.

           Hartlepool Borough Council is beginning the process of preparing a new Local Plan for the town. One of the key pieces of evidence which is needed to guide the production of the Local Plan is a Open Space, Sport and Recreation Assessment and Audit (formerly PPG17) as required by paragraph 73 of the National Planning Policy Framework (NPPF).

 

            The previous Open Space, Sport and Recreation Assessment and Audit was adopted in May 2008 and it is considered a new assessment will need to be undertaken to ensure the new Local Plan is informed by up-to-date, accurate information.

Sport Northern Ireland (referred to as SNI) is an executive non-departmental public body sponsored by the Department of Culture, Arts and Leisure. It was established on 31 December 1973 under the provisions of the Recreation and Youth Service (Northern Ireland) Order 1973 with its main objective being the furtherance of sport and physical recreation.

The aim of this survey is to provide statistically robust data on participation, club membership, volunteering, coaching, attitudes to sport and spectating amongst a representative Northern Ireland sample of adults (16 years plus) in order to reliably enhance our understanding of sport and physical activity patterns and determinants across the population.
