The Government of the Republic of Namibia has received financing from the African Development
Bank’s Technical Assistance Fund for Middle Income Countries toward the cost of The New Port
of Walvis Bay Container Terminal Project, for the Logistics Master Plan and Capacity Building
component. The MIC Grant financed component is for logistics and capacity building activities
meant to complement the New Port of Walvis Bay Container Terminal Project. It is intended that
part of the proceeds of this grant will be applied to eligible payments under the contract for the
FIATA Training Program for Namibian Freight Forwarders.
This activity is intended to strengthen the professional competence of Namibian freight forwarders
in order to ensure that affordable and high-quality logistics services are available for the needs of
the users of the Walvis Bay corridors. The activity will is expected to; assess detailed training needs
of registered freight forwarders in Namibia, provide minimum selected freight forwarders with
FIATA certified training and compile a report for future actions in promoting logistics competence
among freight forwarders in Namibia.
The Walvis Bay Corridor Group now invites eligible consultants to indicate their interest in
providing the above-mentioned service. Interested consultants must provide information indicating
that they are qualified to perform the services (brochures, capability statement on similar
assignments, experience in similar conditions, FIATA validation certificate, FIATA Train the
Trainers certificate, etc.).
Eligibility criteria, establishment of the short-list and the selection procedure shall be in accordance
with the African Development Bank’s “Rules and Procedures for the use of Consultants”, in May
2008 Edition, Revised on July 2012, which is available on the Bank’s website at http://www.afdb.org.
