The States of Guernsey is looking to establish a framework agreement covering furniture that can be used throughout the offices at SCFH and other departments including, but not solely, desks, task chairs, storage, shelving, meeting/training room tables and chairs.
The States is looking to improve the space utilisation of its buildings whilst enhancing the working environment. It is essential that the ranges of furniture proposed are future proofed both in respect to design and continuing availability. We aim to improve efficiency and employee satisfaction whilst ensuring health and safety compliance. The ranges of office furniture proposed must conform to the appropriate European or UK standards for structured strength, safety including fire regulations and stability.
Sir Charles Frossard House (SCFH) is now in excess of 20 years old and various technical aspects of the building, the lighting, electrics etc are being upgraded on a floor by floor basis to facilitate modern working practices, energy savings and better space utilisation. It is planned to complete this upgrade on a rolling basis over the next 3-4 years.
The new Shared Transaction Service Centre (STSC) which is to be primarily located on level 6 of SCFH will consist of between 55-70 persons and ideally is required to be up and running by 1st August 2012. Work on the technical upgrades, redecoration and carpeting of the 6th floor will be complete by end June 2012 and installation of furniture is required in July 2012. In addition some furniture will be required for level 2 (Cashiers) where upgrade work has already taken place and where the 12-15 public facing staff of the STSC are located.
The States buys a wide range of education supplies including but not only art and crafts, card, paper, exercise books, maths/science equipment, furniture and sports equipment. Currently each school purchases independently however the States wishes to engage with suppliers to coordinate supply, products and demand amongst all schools. Contracts expected to start in early 2013.
note: Stationery items are not included in this tender.
