Missoula MT Forestry Lab Renovation

Department of Agriculture, Forest Service | Published May 2, 2013
cpvs

The Rocky Mountain Research Station (RMRS) Missoula Forestry Sciences Lab (RMRS Missoula FSL) was constructed in the mid 1960s as a 15,580 square foot research laboratory facility for the Forest Service. There have been some energy upgrades and minor remodeling over the last 40 years, but is retains most of the original design and layout. There was a feasibility study and conceptual design for a joint venture facility with the University of Montana in 2004, but funding sources didn't allow for the construction. Based upon several analysis and program needs, a decision was made to pursue funding for an expansion and renovation of the facility to accommodate several programs. In 2009 a group of approximately 20 employees was moved to the GSA Federal Building Downtown to accommodate an expanding research program. The desire is to consolidate those operations back on the University Campus. This renovation and expansion project will allow for the consolidation of RMRS employees on the University Campus. The work includes renovation and expansion of the existing Forestry Sciences Lab and Office building. The work includes, but may be limited to partially remodeling the basement and first floors, constructing a new second floor, new paved parking, new landscaping. Significant mechanical, electrical and plumbing upgrades are expected to be part of this contract. Additive items will be issued in the bid schedule to obtain the maximum amount of work for available funding. The magnitude of this project is between $1 mil - $5 mil. Solicitation is expected to be issued after 20 May 2013 and will be made available as attachments to this notice. This is a 100% Small Business Set-Aside. No other information is available at this time. Please hold all inquiries until solicitation is issued.
