Chesterfield Borough Council is inviting tenders for the provision of Arboricultural & Forestry Services throughout the borough on both its land holdings and that of other agencies on their behalf. The resultant contract (if awarded) will initially be for the period of one year, commencing 1st April 2016, with the possibility of a further extension, of up to two months, to all or a part of the contract subject to performance and satisfactory rates being agreed. How to Express Interest in this Tender: 1. It is essential that procedures and conventions outlined in Forest Mensuration, a handbook for practitioners, Forestry Commission (2006) are followed during the work on this contract. The Forestry Commission is inviting tenders for the collection and disposal of litter within Sherwood North and South Beats of Central England Forest District. Regular collection and removal of refuse from car parks, picnic areas and forest edges of Sherwood North and South Beats.  Sites are to be visited as per programme in Appendix and the Contract maps.  All waste to be disposed of in a manner according to current Government Legislation.  Contractor to give the Forestry Commission written evidence detailing the disposal of waste upon request (i.e. a transfer note).  It may be necessary, if the location of rubbish warrants it, to divert from the specified sites to other sites within the area. This will be agreed between the Contractor and the Contract Manager.  Contractor holiday cover must be provided and to be to standard. Production survey plots will be established following one of the method options and based on both the Forest Mensuration handbook 2006, the Forestry Commission Field Guide for Timber Measurement 2008 and the Forestry Commission Survey Handbook, 3rd edition 2007. There are 2 options for data collection available for this contract method 1 - by tape and paper documentation plus input and calculation in an Excel package, method 2 - electronic callipers. Only 1 of the methods will be used as declared by the contractor. Both methods will include: Possible sub-compartment stratification Plot navigation, numbering, recording grid reference and size choice - circular plots will always be used of the same size. Data collection to include: Species DBH Planting year Top height Possible A4 or A5 tariff details Specific comments about tree health, form regeneration coverage % by species Data processing to include: For method 1 – input and calculation using Excel spreadsheet and YC calculation For method 2 – downloading callipers and editing specific screens Data presentation will include: For method 1 –Completed, legible field maps, data sheets with any relevant U15 forms attached for each sub-compartment and a completed Excel spreadsheet for each sub-compartment. For method 2 – Completed, legible field maps with any relevant U15 forms attached and a .xfr file for each sub-compartment Biosecurity guidelines will be complied with. All paperwork will be returned to Forest Research Fineshade.

The Forestry Commission will be awarding a framework agreement for Tree Surgery operations on Forest sites, across the Sherwood South & North Beats, part of Central England Forest District. The work will comprise of tree surgery, including deadwooding, crown lift, crown reduction, pollarding and sectional felling of identified trees plus some chipping of residues. There may also be a requirement for the felling and dismantling of individual or small groups of windblown trees. In addition the provision of a tree inspection report may also be required in certain instances.
