Forestry Commission has taken under the LIFE + program preparations for remedial action in Molenpolder, which is located in Natura 2000 area. The project site is located in Tienhoven, municipality Stichtse Vecht. If goals are set: ► Hydraulic dredging of the North Maarsseveense Lakes; ► Destination sludges in to build pasture depots; ► The construction of up to 1,200 m legakkers in North Maarsseveense Lakes and in the adjacent Visplas.

Living soil is a project submitted to the INTERREG program border region Flanders-Netherlands and aims to improve soil quality on agricultural lands in the region. Agricultural practice is experiencing a downward decline in soil quality in the border region. Agriculture in Flanders and the southern Netherlands is an important economic pillar with a high added value. The soil deterioration is caused not only by stricter standards on fertilizers and pesticides, but also by the use of ever more powerful machines. The result is that the soil loses its buffering action. This results in increased emission of environmentally critical substances, while the top production of agricultural products is jeopardized. To break this negative spiral is transition in thinking and actions of farmers needed. The applicant partners in the project offer farmers a platform to achieve this transition by working on awareness and implementation of measures to apply the entrepreneurs in their business. By working at different levels (mass, group and individual approach) and through collaboration with suppliers, research institutes, educational objectives are realized in a three-year project. Innovations in the field of improving the soil quality are thus accelerated effectively applied.

Partners in the project are from Flanders PCG, Hooibeekhoeve, Province of Flemish Brabant, PIBO campus, LNE and Inagro (project leader) and the Netherlands Rusthoeve and ZLTO. The project starts on 01/10/2016 and ends on 01/10/2019. The EU and the province of Limburg, North Brabant and Zeeland finance the project. For the implementation of activities described in the project in the Southern Netherlands, Rusthoeve looking for an organization that is able to carry out these activities within budget and schedule.
