Creating a software solution on the project "Digital cultural heritage of Plovdiv Municipality" Measure 2 "Documentation of Cultural History" Program BG08 "Cultural heritage and contemporary arts", financed by the EEA Financial Mechanism 2009-2014.

The subject of this contract covers the first activities of the project, which is associated with the development of a software solution to create virtual collections of digital content available and their presentation on the Internet. The creation of detailed records with metadata already digitized cultural and historical sites is crucial for the project, since only after the accumulation of one solid array of metadata and creating opportunities for their electronic processing, can improve and democratize access to information concerning the cultural heritage of the city.

The software solution consists in the development, implementation and maintenance of web-based storage, management and presentation of digitized documents. The system is a digital repository with integrated software module for working with linked open data (LOD), consisting of administrative and public area.

DSpace is an open source, with a focus on long-term storage, access and preservation of digital content, providing the ability to manage the visualization of digital copies (scanned copies of books and periodicals, papers, files with text and music, movies, pictures and etc.). The repository should be created in the form of an electronic catalog of objects of cultural and historical heritage, including the description according to international standards for bibliographic descriptions, classification and enriching them with additional bibliographic, ethnological, historical metadata.
