The project was winning proposal for the invited architectural competition held in autumn 2001. With few adjustments is the original competition project realized in 2003. The school is a 6-parallel secondary. The building is shaped like a one-story glass pavilion that "floats" on a shelf over fields landscape, with a precise, square outer contour of 75 x 75 meters. The main entrance to the south leads into an open schoolyard atrium, located right inside the buildings. School internal environment consists of a series of larger and smaller building objects that are arranged relative to each other at the square base plate. The base plate is like a "village floor". Each function expresses itself through its own house in the village. The spaces between the houses form street racing and spatial area. Some of the rooms are "inverse"; - External atriums which is scraped out of the building and providing a valuable light to the interior of the building. With increasing number of pupils in the area and the introduction of new study subjects fall 2013, want the developer to extend and increase the capacity of Råholt Junior. The school is currently a base school with three bases à six classes. It was originally planned for 540 students. The developer now wants to expand to eight classes in each base, 708 students in total. This increase in the number of pupils leads one also must increase the capacity of special rooms. The developer therefore wish to make some changes on special rooms in existing schools and additionally expand the school with an annex to the west. New construction to the west is safeguarded in its own ongoing contract. It is desirable to reinforce and further develop the existing school grade by reusing most of materials and details already established in the existing building. It is important that the project viable idea is safeguarded
