An apparatus for isothermal titration calorimetry (ITC) is to be used. The device is used to investigate the binding strength of two (bio) molecules or between molecules and nanoparticles. In bioanalytical applications, the thermodynamic data of the ITC contribute to the understanding of binding mechanisms and the optimization of bioreceptors for specific analytes. Another possibility is the analysis of energy release in enzymatic catalysis. These studies are important not only for the understanding of the reaction mechanisms, but also for the development of enzymatic biosensors, for the analysis of enzyme or substrate concentrations and for the testing of the integrity of immobilized enzymes.
