The German Development Institute (DIE), based in Bonn is one of the leading international development policy research institutes. It carries through excellent research, consultancy and training help to find answers to global issues of the future. The interdisciplinary Institute provides an interface between theory and practice. DIE developed policy-relevant concepts, advises ministries, governments and international organizations and refers to current political topics. The training programs of the Institute are aimed at university graduates and young professionals. They are integrated into the research and consultation process. On THE employs about 130 people, two-thirds of the academic staff. The management team consists of Dirk Messner (Director), Imme Scholz (Deputy. Director) and Gabriele Kahnert (Head of service facilities and authorized signatory).
International cooperation is an important part of the work of the UBA. Environmental problems do not stop at national borders. Transboundary waters like the Rhine or global goods such as the intact air can be protected only through cooperation with other States or international organizations.
