Thematic focus/ Sector: Energy efficiency, refrigeration and air-conditioning, climate policy (nationally appropriate mitigation action) Driven by growing prosperity and consumption, demand for refrigeration and air-conditioning (RAC) in Indonesia is rising by approx. The field of refrigeration and air-conditioning technology has enormous untapped potential for greenhouse gas (GHG) reduction in Indonesia. The project aims to assist the Energy Ministry in particular to create reliable enabling conditions for measures to increase efficiency in refrigeration and air-conditioning technology. A specific NAMA (Nationally Appropriate Mitigation Action) for energy-efficient refrigeration will be developed for Indonesia. Proposed improvements will be developed and evaluated in selected applications. Specific GHG reduction measures in the use of RAC technologies in industry and commerce will be implemented and supported by technology transfer. Pilot measures will serve as a reference for further dissemination in Indonesia. The project works closely with the relevant ministries, such as the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (MEMR) and other stakeholders from government, industry and training institutions in Indonesia. In the complex arena of partner institutions the project relies on the long-standing Indonesian-German cooperation with the relevant ministries through the PAKLIM programme (Policy advice for environment and climate change) and the German Proklima sector programme for integrated protection for the ozone layer and the climate. Overall objective of the project: The sector NAMA for industrial and commercial RAC makes a significant contribution to meeting Indonesia’s GHG reduction targets. Outputs (specific project goals): 1. A sector-specific NAMA initiative is established, agreed with the main stakeholder groups and embedded in the national NAMA strategy. 2. Policy-makers are informed of options to promote emissions reductions through NAMAs and to create incentives and funding for efficient refrigeration/air-conditioning technologies. 3. Forward-looking and exemplary reduction measures are implemented – sometimes in the context of technology cooperation schemes – and promote the introduction of new, more efficient technologies. 4. Training schemes that cover the proper planning, execution and maintenance of innovative cooling systems are established and relevant information is disseminated in the region via a RAC information platform to support implementation of the sector NAMA.

As part of the tasks of the Federal Bureau of Energy Efficiency (BfEE), in particular pursuant to § 9 para. 2 no. 5 EDL-G, this has the task to monitor the market for energy services and to develop. The energy saving advice of Consumer Organizations (vzbv) is of particular importance as it is one of the most in demand nationwide funded counseling services with approximately 100,000 consultations per year.
This contributes to a large extent help to implement the National Action Plan for Energy Efficiency (NAPE) anchored awareness of private households for energy efficiency. In order to remove the conveyor Program of the Federation of German Consumer Association perspective, will end the program, both in terms of energy saving advice as well as the energy-checks, evaluated. The energy caravan companies in the Rhine-Neckar is a joint project of Klimaschutzagentur Mannheim, the climate and consulting agency Heidelberg and the Rhine-Neckar district and the Energy Agency Rheinland-Pfalz GmbH (serves as a model citizens caravan which in the past in the Rhine has occurred -Neckar).
