The Queensland Government has released four areas for coal exploration in Queensland's Bowen Basin via competitive tender without a cash bidding component for Exploration Permits for Coal.

The Department of Environment and Heritage Protection (EHP) is planning to undertake investigative works at a former underground coal gasification (UCG) trial site. The purpose of the investigation is to understand the nature of the UCG cavities. The site is located 15 kilometres south east of Chinchilla and approximately 60 kilometres north west of Dalby in southern Queensland.
Stanwell is conducting this Expression of Interest to invite responses from contracting firms with sound financial and technical backgrounds interested in proposing methods for the management, removal and / or utilisation of CCPs from Stanwell’s coal-fired generation sites located at Tarong Power Station, Tarong North Power Station, Stanwell Power Station and the Meandu Mine.

The scope is for the supply, manufacture, quality assurance, testing and delivery (free into store) of 12,000 needle felt fabric filter bags (being a full set of 11,456 plus an additional 544 spares) for Tarong North Power Station.
~The fabric filter plant installed at Tarong North Power Station is a low-pressure pulse jet dust collecting plant for air pollution control, removing dust from flue gases leaving the coal fired boiler before being discharged into the atmosphere.
