NHS GG&C ELECTRICAL CONTRACTORS’ FRAMEWORK INTRODUCTION & OUTLINE SPECIFICATION BRIEFING NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde (GG&C) require suitably qualified and experienced electrical contractors to undertake Electrical Contracting through framework agreements for six geographical lots: Lot 1 Glasgow South & South Lanarkshire Lot 2 Partnerships Glasgow Lot 3 Glasgow North & East Dunbartonshire Lot 4 Clyde: West Dunbartonshire Lot 5 Clyde: Renfrewshire Lot 6 Clyde: Inverclyde For further information on the locations of hospital sites, please refer to the following: http://www.nhsggc.org.uk/content/default.asp?page=s760. The key services being sought are planned and routine maintenance works. In addition, from time to time and in spite of controls in place to prevent them, emergency repair and/or maintenance works may also need to be carried out. The successful contractors will be expected to support NHS GG&C through the delivery of a comprehensive and demanding package of services. Work may be procured through this framework by various sections of NHS GG&C’s Estates Departments. These may include but would not be restricted to Asbestos Management, Property Services, IT and various project teams. Various programmes or orders may run concurrently and may involve the contractor liaising with more than one member of one or more Estates departments. This Works comprise the supply and installation of new and modified electrical services to the Wemyss Bay Ferry Terminal and its associated electrical infrastructure. In brief the Works comprise the upgrading of the electrical supply capacity, new and rationalised main and sub-mains distribution system, new external lighting installation, linkspan supply and associated works, provision for a supply to a future new passenger access system, small power modifications, earthing, testing, labelling and commissioning. The Works shall also include significant builders work in connection with the electrical installation, including new underground ductwork, cable draw pits, ground / structural preparation for the replacement lighting column installation, preparation of electrical switchroom for incoming and outgoing cabling, the cleaning out of the existing underground ductwork and draw pit installation, holes and penetrations as required, together with all making good of existing surfaces. In addition, a steelwork sub-contractor shall be employed to replace a section of hand railing and support posts located adjacent to the linkspan transition, fencing modification to inner dolphin, structural brackets and lighting column flange spreader plates. This Works comprise the supply and installation of new and modified electrical services to the Wemyss Bay Ferry Terminal and its associated electrical infrastructure. In brief the Works comprise the upgrading of the electrical supply capacity, new and rationalised main and sub-mains distribution system, new external lighting installation, linkspan supply and associated works, provision for a supply to a future new passenger access system, small power modifications, earthing, testing, labelling and commissioning. The Works shall also include significant builders work in connection with the electrical installation, including new underground ductwork, cable draw pits, ground / structural preparation for the replacement lighting column installation, preparation of electrical switchroom for incoming and outgoing cabling, the cleaning out of the existing underground ductwork and draw pit installation, holes and penetrations as required, together with all making good of existing surfaces. In addition, a steelwork sub-contractor shall be employed to replace a section of hand railing and support posts located adjacent to the linkspan transition, fencing modification to inner dolphin, structural brackets and lighting column flange spreader plates. Throughout this specification the word 'Contractor' shall read as meaning Electrical Engineering Services Contractor. Programme The Contractor shall produce an outline programme of Works for submission with the tender return. The Contractor needs to be aware that the project works are an integral part of a busy working ferry terminal, with frequent vessel, vehicle and foot passenger movements. Movements of vessels within the port vary during the year. The summer timetable runs from the 3rd April 2015 to the 25th October 2015.
