The Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust invite expressions of interest to carry out Inspection & Testing of the Electrical infrastructure within its Estate portfolio in accordance with the requirements of BS 7671:2008 and other associated statutory requirements. The aim of this contract is for the Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust to fully comply with all relevant Health & Safety Regulations regarding electrical installations. To enable the ongoing management and the operation of the systems, it is envisaged that the inspection and testing programme will be carried out over a five year period. When completed, the programme will result in a fully inspected, tested and documented infrastructure across the Estate portfolio: St James University Hospital, Leeds The General Infirmary at Leeds Chapel Allerton Hospital, Leeds Seacroft Hospital, Leeds Britannia House, Morley, Leeds Mayfair House, Leeds The contractor shall carry out full inspection and testing of the low voltage electrical infrastructure from each sub station transformer to final sub circuit to comply with the requirements of the 17th Edition of the IEE Electrical Wiring Regulations, BS 7671:2008 and provide on programme, the resultant documentation as required by the regulations.

Background The City of Bradford Metropolitan District Council, 'The Council' is looking to source a single supplier for the provision of Generators and Electrical Installation for Bingley Music Live, an annual indie/rock/pop/alternative 3-day music festival, which is professionally organised and managed by The Council. Traditionally held on the weekend after the August Bank Holiday, the festival will be held in 2015 on the 4th, 5th and 6th September. The festival has the potential to attract 45,000 people, attending the festival over the weekend and it is intended that by presenting some of the best contemporary acts from the current music scene the event will sufficiently develop and grow in popularity and reputation. The venue is the idyllic setting of Myrtle Park situated in the rural town of Bingley, near Bradford. Myrtle Park has an occupant capacity of 15,500 which can be achieved given the opportunity to present big named artists. Contract period The Council requires a contract for the music event - Bingley Music Live for 2015. Bingley Music Live will take place in 2015 on the 4 th, 5 th and 6th September. Including the additional build up and take down period, the total hire term may be up to 11 days. There may be the option for 2 x 12 month extensions for 2016 and then 2017, subject to satisfactory performance, budget constraints and there being a requirement for the service.

Housing works

Sub-contractors will be required to undertake full re-wires to both occupied and un-occupied domestic properties. This includes renewing consumer units, lighting circuits, cooker circuits, light points & switches etc. The work also comprises rewiring to off-peak facilities and installing double and triple pole isolators to the mains supply. Planned works to kitchen and bathroom schemes are also included.

Non Housing works

Sub-contractors will be required to undertake electrical works to commercial and industrial installations. This includes, testing and inspection, rewiring and upgrading new and existing installations using all types of PVC, MICC and SWA cables.  Installation of all types of steel and PVC containment, trunking, conduit and basket.

They will also be required to install fire/intruder alarm systems, door access, CCTV and data/comms. On completion of the works they will need to provide all relevant certification and any other relevant information/documentation that may be required by the contract administrator in order to comply with CDM regulations etc.

Under this contract the contractor will be required to actively contribute to the achievement of social objectives. These include: skills development; employment and training opportunities within the locality of where the contract will be delivered; and other added value initiatives throughout the supply chain to support community programmes promoted by the council.   Apprenticeships will be supported by placing a levy on the price of products through the managed store.  This will take the form of a standard % which will then in turn fund the placement of apprentices within the Council teams.

 

Accordingly contract performance conditions may relate in particular to secondary considerations.

WYCA operates 8 staffed and 9 unstaffed bus stations, has responsibility for almost 14,000 bus stops and looks after around 4,500 bus shelters, of which approximately 70% have electrical connections. This contract will cover work at bus stations, offices and the shelters with electrical connections. The electrical work includes inspection & testing, re-lamping, emergency light testing, fire alarms, battery replacements and ad-hoc repairs to the installations. The electrical work at passenger shelters involves inspection & testing, and carrying out ad hoc electrical repair work. The mechanical work includes routine maintenance and repair of heating, ventilation, air conditioning, water hygiene, drainage, plumbing installations and general building maintenance.
