The Highland Council are inviting applications from suitably competent, qualified and experienced contractors who may wish to be considered for inclusion on the Councils Select List of Tenderers for structural and electrical remedial works at Inverness Leisure Centre. Remedial works to defective structural glulam roof beams forming window upstands over public pools. Works will involve design and construction of a structural scaffold, glulam beam installation, remedial works to existing glulam beams, roof flashing installation and existing window panels fixing upgrade. Likely crane lifting required to lift beams and associated structural elements into place. Allow for a Lightning Protection Specialist and electrical contractor to carry out a detailed survey of all electrical services within the dry and wet side of the Inverness Leisure Centre to ascertain the extent of Surge Protection Devices (SPD) required to bring the existing lightning protection installation to meet the requirements of BS EN 62305 Category R1. Contractors should allow for supplying, erecting and connecting, testing and commissioning the required SPD's, types 1 and 2 as required.

Community Energy Scotland is seeking tenders for the provision of a fuel cell system to efficiently convert hydrogen into heat and power for Kirkwall Harbour (Orkney, UK) and to act as a demonstration device to aid the training of crews for hydrogen vessels.

The fuel cell will be located within a working harbour owned by Orkney Islands Council. The pier is in the heart of Kirkwall with easy access for delivery and maintenance. The 75kWe fuel cell and its container will be designed to replicate a marine installation and allow training of seafarers to Maritime and Coastguard Agency standards. Operations, maintenance checks, safety and emergency procedures relevant to the use of hydrogen and fuel cells at sea will be reproducible in the training installation.

In summary:

— The equipment must be suitably weatherproofed for the location and compliant with all appropriate regulations for electrical supply, pressurised gas, flammable lighter than air gas.

— The system is required to meet performance criteria including output level, start-up and output adjustment times, electrical efficiency, operational lifespan.

— Control systems are needed to ensure safe operation and separately to continuously evaluate and provide the appropriate electrical power output level.

— A warranty period is expected as well as an indication of the remote and on-site breakdown response that the supplier is able to provide.

— The tender must include cost for initial training provision to the project team, including documentation and an operations manual.
