SCC is seeking a supplier to provide a range of statutory and non-statutory driver training courses to Clients both employees of SCC and to external client groups via a combination of classroom-based training, practical training, and online software (where applicable).

SCC is seeking a supplier to provide a range of statutory and non-statutory driver training courses to Clients both employees of SCC and to external client groups via a combination of classroom-based training, and practical training. Some of the vehicles used by SCC to undertake business require drivers, by law, to hold specific driving qualifications in accordance with the Road Traffic Act 1991, and the Road Safety Act 2006. In addition to this, Health and Safety legislation places a duty of care on the authority to ensure adequate training is delivered to reduce the risk of accidents.

SCC also requires administrative services for this contract, however may choose not to award this, if it is not commercially viable.

SCC is looking to let a multi lot supplier framework for an initial integrated programme of travel demand management within Bridgwater the purpose of the programme is to:

— Deal with road safety risks, particularly for non-motorised users such as pedestrians and cyclists.

— Maximise the opportunities for managing travel, in particular to encourage modal shift through increased levels of walking and cycling.

— Achieve reliability and consistency of journey times across the Hinkley Point C (HPC) HGV corridors during construction of HPC.

It is anticipated that this framework will be used beyond this programme to support the delivery of travel demand projects and programmes that Somerset County Council may wish to deliver in addition to this to be used by members of the South West Highways Alliance.

Working with employers, corporate organisations as well as charities to identify and deliver travel demand management solutions. This lot covers any size of organisation delivering goods, services or works within a specific geographical area.

For the purpose of the initial known work this includes:

— EDF Energy;

— Key businesses in Bridgwater;

— Key businesses outside Bridgwater but with large concentrations of Bridgwater resident employees;

— New businesses (in particular HPC supply chain); and

— Representative Bodies.

Working with community interest groups, clubs, public forums and residents of particular areas, as well as individuals who are regular users of the amenities and facilities of a particular area, to develop and implement travel demand management solutions.
