The Work Related Learning Service works on behalf of schools across Coventry ensure there is a range of high-quality vocational provision which meets the needs of young people aged between 13-19 years. .

It is the intention of Coventry City Council to let a dynamic purchasing system of approved suppliers for part-time programmes of work related learning, functional skills and personal development for 13-19 year-old Learners, particularly those who are most at risk of becoming disengaged from learning and of becoming NEET, which complements and extends learning provision in schools. Our Aim is to significantly impact upon participation, level of progress, achievement and promote the social inclusion of all 13-19 year olds.

The result of a successful bid against this invitation to tender will be a ‘Dynamic Purchasing System’ as defined within the Public Contract Regulations. Suppliers who meet the criteria will be awarded a place on an approved suppliers list.

Call-offs against the Dynamic Purchasing System will be made through ‘direct awards’.

The Chief Executive of Skills Funding (the Agency) is seeking to set up a Register of Qualified Suppliers in order to pre-qualify applicants in readiness for mini-competitions for the delivery of services. (For the avoidance of doubt — applicants must note that their appearance on this register pre-qualifies them for tenders for delivery of services that are not education and skills training).

The Chief Executive of Skills Funding (the Agency) is seeking to set up the Service Developer Framework in order to pre-qualify applicants in readiness for mini-competitions. It is aimed at encouraging innovation, new ideas and development of services. It should be noted that the Agency reserves the right to develop or enhance the scope of the Framework during its life-span if necessary (for the avoidance of doubt applicants must note that appearance on this frameworks pre-qualifies them for tenders that are not for education and skills training).

Supported by the Coventry and Warwickshire Local Enterprise Partnership (LEP), Coventry University will be opening the National Transport Design Centre (NTDC) at its Technology Park in spring 2017. The centre will focus on design research, post-graduate education and industry engagement, both with Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs) in the transport sector (automotive, rail, marine and aerospace), suppliers in those sectors and potential new entrants. The facility will be equipped with industrial standard, state-of-the-art equipment, to ensure that NTDC can offer high quality design solutions, both physical and virtual, based on the outcomes of Coventry University's design research. The University is looking to procure a 3D Printing Machine to support the NTDC's rapid prototyping facilities for producing accurate product prototypes in a range of materials, including polymers and elastomers/rubbers.
