The Government of theRepublic of Liberia has received financing from the World Bank in support of theEbola Emergency Response Project (EERP) and intendsto apply part of the proceeds to hire experienced Pre-Clinical Faculty for the A.M. Dogliotti College of Medicine (University of Liberia) for the following academicpositions;
AnatomyEmbryology/HistologyMedical BiochemistryNeurosciencePathologySurgery
Pre-clinical faculty members will work with their Liberiancounterparts to deliver acontext-oriented curriculum, mentor junior faculty and teaching apprentices, and develop interdepartmentalinitiatives to enhance the overall quality of the medical education program. Selection will be based on qualifications andexperience stipulated below.
Qualifications and Experience
Ø  A minimumof 3 years  teachingexperience at an accredited college of medicine, medical school, school of pharmacy or equivalentpreferred;
Ø  A PhD or equivalent from an accredited institution is preferred or MD or equivalent; Master'sdegree or equivalent with at least 5 years teaching experience will be considered;
Ø  Previous or current employment as an Assistant Professor, Professor or equivalentpreferred;
Ø  Professional experience in cross-cultural and low-income settings.
Ø  Teach medical and pharmacy students according to the schedule provided by the Dean's office at the beginning ofeach semester;
Ø  Develop and distribute course syllabi to students during the first week of eachsemester;
Ø  Conduct continuous assessment and academic evaluation of students, including end of semester and end of academicyear examinations;
Ø  Participate in the evaluation of professors by students and office of the Dean at the end of eachsemester;
Ø  Enhance the structure and design of pre-clinical training;
Ø  Conduct seminars/workshopsto upgrade the knowledge and skills of othercolleagues in the department;
Ø  Work in partnership with peers and trainees to identify and develop opportunities for collaborativeresearch;
Ø  Support the development and implementation of administrative tools and structures required for medical educationoperations, including the creation of trainee, faculty, and program evaluations tools.
Reporting and Time Schedules: The assignment isexpected to initiallycover 12 months and is renewable, subject to satisfactory performanceand availability of funding. Allpre-clinical faculty positions will be based at the A.M. Dogliotti College of Medicine in Monrovia, Liberia. The Pre-ClinicalFaculty shall report directly to the Dean of the College of Medicine for educational responsibilities and performanceoversight.
An individual consultantwill be selected in accordance with the procedures set out in the World Bank'sGuidelines: Selection and Employment of Consultants under IBRD Loans and IDA Credits and Grants by World Bank Borrowers" datedJanuary 2011 revised July 2014.
