Guides Invitation for Bids COUNTRY:  Republic of Kenya PROJECT NAME:  Kenya Primary Education Development (PRIEDE)Project GRANT NO: TF018863 CONTRACTTITLE: Printing and Distribution of Early GradeMathematics Textbooks and Teachers' Guides REFERENCE NO: MOEST/GPE/ICB/01/2015-2016 1.        The Ministry of Education, Science and Technology (MOEST) has received financing from the World Bank toward the cost ofthe Kenya Primary Education DevelopmentGlobal Partnership for Education (PRIEDE) Project and intends to applypart of the proceeds toward payments under the contract forprinting and distribution of textbooksand teachers' guides. 2.        The Ministry now invites sealed bids from eligible bidders for Printing and Distribution of 5,145,000 Pupils' Early GradeMathematics Textbooks and Teachers' Guides to about 22,572 primary schools and teacher training colleges spread in over 1,140 zonesin all of Kenya's 47 counties.  The books will be printed and distributed in two batches between November 2015 and February 2016 for batch 1, andbetween August 2016 and November 2016 for batch 2. 3.        Bidding will be conducted through theInternational Competitive Bidding procedures as specified in the World Bank's Guidelines: Procurement of Goods, Works and Non-Consulting Services under IBRD Loans andIDACredits & Grants by World Bank Borrowers dated January 2011and revisedJuly 2014. The technical advisor will be expected to develop capacity of theEGM Technical Team on design and implementation of the EGM activities. The objective of the project is to increase access and improve quality and relevance to TVET. The target areas includes:- i. Equip eight (8) target Centers of Excellence with Engineering and Applied sciences training Equipment. ii. Complete works in engineering faculties and support facilities in eight (8) New Technical Training Institutes and equip with engineering and applied sciences training equipment. iii. Equip Thirteen (13) existing TTI’s with Engineering and Applied sciences training Equipment. iv. Equip four (4) special technical institutions for people with visual and hearing disabilities and build workshops, Hostels and ablution blocks. v. Equip vulnerable youth with relevant TVET Skills and work experience activities and train TVET tutors at Diploma and Degree levels in engineering and Applied sciences vi. Provide institutional support to Ministry of Education, Science and Technology. UNON on behalf of the United Nations Office on Drug and Crime (UNODC) seeks the interest of qualified firms to participate in the upcoming solicitation exercise for the Rehabilitation of drug users in Mombasa County & Kilifi County, Kenya. The scope of work consists of core interventions to prevent new HIV and hepatitis infections among People Who Inject Drugs (PWID) and enhance their well-being and quality of life by the introduction of the core elements of the United Nations and USG/PEPFAR guidance on HIV prevention among PWID. The core interventions and linked processes included in this project are: 1. Needle and Syringe Programme (NSP) access; 2. Medication Assisted Treatment (MAT); 3. Referral & linkage from outreach, NSP and MAT to others HIV services including HIV Testing and Counselling through the Opt-In and Opt-out model, Anti-Retroviral Therapy (ART) and psychosocial support and 4. Peer Education/outreach A key component of this project is for a local services provider to provide a Drop-in Centre where PWID and women heroin users can access information and education on harm reduction, namely HIV prevention, HIV Testing and Counselling (HTC), Needle and Syringe Exchange Programmes (NSEP), psychosocial support and referrals to a Medically Assisted Treatment (MAT) site. This in turn will ensure optimal client recruitment and retention in HTC and MAT services as well in ART for those who are found HIV positive and fulfil ART eligibility criteria. The details of the requirement will be included in the solicitation document. The contract duration is for four (4) years.
