FSL are seeking a consultant or consortium of consultants to provide design services to support the design and development of residential development at Wichelstowe, Swindon. The commission will be phased into a number of stages which will follow the RIBA design process.
Swindon Borough Council have sought a supplier to provide landscape and public realm design services in relation to the Wichelstowe development. The contract will be for 3 years with the option to extend by 2 years.
The supplier will be required to develop the detailed design and oversee delivery of public realm and landscaping areas across the Wichelstowe site. The supplier will work as part of a Design Team including civil engineers, ecologists and in some cases artists in order to provide comprehensive, proactive and commercially aware public realm and landscaping design support. For landscape and public realm led schemes the Consultant will lead the design team and act as principal designer.
The first phase of works will include concept designs for the District Centre Public Square, the Northern Gateway and the first phase of landscape / habitat improvements. Future phases will then include the detailed design and supervision of these and other works.
Monitoring and Evaluation is a key part of ensuring that programmes are ODA compliant and ensure it is carried out to a high standard, UKSA require expert resource to assist the UKSA, and IPP grant recipients. The successful supplier will support IPP grant recipients in developing and executing their M&E plans. They will give support to the sector as a whole to upskill interested parties in the sector. The supplier will also need to ensure that grant recipients implement their M&E plans, and continue to run them to standard throughout the life of their projects, and requires support from the successful supplier to support grant recipients and act as an independent quality assurance function. It should be noted that any applicants that are involved with M&E provision and support to current IPP projects will be excluded from the tender to prevent conflict of interest between clients. Successful supplier for this tender will be excluded from participating in current or future IPP projects.
