In 2015, as part of West Lothian Council’s budget review, the annual grant of 100,000GBP to Visit West Lothian (VWL) was reduced to 0GBP over a two year period. There was always an expectation that West Lothian Council’s financial support would taper off, but this happened more abruptly than had been envisaged. Staff support and facilities remain in addition to the good will of volunteers on the board. The board of VWL now wish to consider how they might maintain and build upon the many benefits delivered by the organisation, in the absence of regular revenue funding from the local authority. With a substantial setback in revenue the Board feel it is a priority for an external consultant to make recommendations on how the organisation should go forward.
