General Procurement Notice GENERAL PROCUREMENT NOTICE Islamic Republic of Pakistan National Power Transmission Modernization Phase I Project Energy GENERAL PROCUREMENT NOTICE Project ID No. P154987 The Government of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan has applied for financing in the amount of US$ 425 million equivalent fromthe World Bank toward the cost of the National Power Transmission Modernization Phase I Project, and it intends to apply part ofthe proceeds to payments for goods, works, related services and consulting services to be procured under thisproject. The project will include the following components: Investment Component: the component includes (a) Upgrading, expansion and rehabilitation of selected existing 500 and220 kV power substations and associated lines; and (b) Construction of new 500 kV, 220 kV substations and transmissionlines. Technical Assistance Component: The component includes (a) project management support for implementation of theProject; and (b) capacity enhancement for NTDC to plan, construct and operate the upgraded national transmissiongrid. The project is likely to include procurement of following works, goods and services: ·        Supply of equipment,works and installation service for rehabilitation and expansion of existing 220 and 500 kV substations and associated transmissionlines; ·        Supply of equipment,works and installation service for new 220 and 500 kV substations and associated transmission lines; ·        Consulting services fordesign, tender support, contract management and construction supervision of all substations and associated transmission lines underthe Project. ·        Consulting services forenhancing capacity of NTDC in planning, management and operation of the national transmission systems. Thisprequalification is being conducted for a single ICB contract. The Government of Islamic Republic of Pakistan through Government of the Punjab has received a loanfrom the International Bank for Reconstruction and Development (IBRD) towards the cost of the Punjab BarragesImprovement Phase-II Project (PBIP-II), andit intends to apply part of the proceeds of this loan to payments under the project Revival of Degraded River Channels in Punjab. The Irrigation Department, Government of the Punjab, Pakistan, intends to prequalify contractors and/or firmsfor procurement of Civil, Mechanical and Electrical works for Revival of Degraded River Channels in Punjab. The Project comprisesthe construction of air inflatable rubber dam across River Sutlej near road bridge (N5) Bahawalpur City. The Project ManagementOffice (PMO) for Punjab Barrages Rehabilitation and Modernization Projects has been designated as the responsibleagency to executethese works through the supervisory consultants. The site for inflatable rubber dam is proposed 200 m downstream of N-5 Bahawalpur? Lodran Road Bridge at River Sutlej.  The inflatable dam has four (4) maincomponents: ·         700m Concrete Foundation Pad between abutments. ·         Extension of existing guide banks. ·         Strong and Flexible Rubber Coated Fabric Tube firmly fixed to concrete foundation by bars and anchoragebolts ·         Operating System that controls inflation and deflation oftube ·         AutomaticSafety Devices that ensure tube deflation during floods It is expected that invitations to bid will be made in March 2016 Prequalification will be conducted through prequalificationprocedures specified in the World Bank's Guidelines: Procurement under IBRD Loans and IDA Credits, August 2010, and is open to all bidders from eligible source countries, as defined in theguidelines.
