The research is focused on the development of unassisted (self-controlled), multi-axis, versatile material removal technology for fabrication of complex 3D core/cavities inserts and stamps (e.g. for automotive optics) with high accuracy, precision and no-secondary-polishing-required surface finish from difficult-to-machine materials. The main criterion for choosing equipment for this research and development is the ability to fabricate geometric features, surfaces and geometries from ferrous and difficult-to-machine materials with optical surface quality (Ra < 10 nm) using diamond cutting tools.  3.
