Dudley MBC’s Corporate Landlord Services are inviting tenders from suitably experienced Contractors to design and construct a single storey purpose built unit in ‘off-site construction’ or modular style construction to accommodate early years children under the ‘time 4 two’s’ funding scheme. The project will deliver a single storey unit at two separate school sites in the Dudley borough. Each building will consist of 2nr early years/nursery areas, kitchen, toilets (including accessible toilet), baby change, office and reception area along with external covered play areas. The overall floor area of each building is envisaged to be around 150m2. The Contractor must appreciate and be sensitive to the woodland/park surroundings to both buildings and the Client has intimated a desire to consider natural timber materials to the external envelope which are sympathetic to the surroundings. Dudley MBC will be responsible for obtaining relevant planning permission. The successful Contractor will be responsible for obtaining building regulation approval, building control completion certificate and any amendment required to the planning approval. The estimated total contract value for both buildings is estimated to be in the region of £500,000. It is essential that the construction of these buildings is completed before September 2016 to ensure that the new intake of children can be accommodated. Interested Contractors will be required to complete and submit an Expression of Interest document which will be scored by a panel of representatives to determine if they will be included on the tender list. It is anticipated that a total of 6 Contractors will be invited to tender for this scheme.

The works are to provide a new build SEN Broad Spectrum school and potentially an Early Years facility (Form of Entry to be confirmed), within the boundary and on the site of Former Alice Stevens SEN School. The former school will require demolition prior to commencement to allow for new build. The site is also shared with a fully operational 2FE school Whitley Abbey Primary. There is only one entrance to the site which will remain and need to be shared. Chester Farm, the site and its buildings, comprises a nationally, regionally and locally significant heritage asset: the richness and complexity of the site is reflected in its designation as a Scheduled Ancient Monument, with some of the farm buildings and garden walls being Grade II & II* Listed. It comprises 34 hectares, lying in the Nene Valley and adjacent to the town of Wellingborough. The site is also located in an area of considerable wildlife and ecological interest within the recently created Nature Improvement Area and adjacent to a Site of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI). The County Council is committed to making the site somewhere that people want to come; a place that through education, learning and enjoyment adds value to their lives, and helps them to appreciate Northamptonshire's outstanding heritage. Key elements of the heritage at Chester Farm •Evidence of settlement from at least Mesolithic times to date; •Iron Age enclosures and ancient field systems below the ground; •Roman settlement, including a Roman walled town dating from the 2nd century with extensive suburbs, a network of Roman roads, a number of cemeteries and a causeway across the adjoining flood plain; •Medieval village of Chester by the Water including some evidence of its main street together with associated mill, open fields and meadows. •Complex of farm buildings dating from the 17th century including the main Chester House (Grade II* listed) and barns (Grade II) with the remains of formal gardens, an orchard and parkland. •Evidence of ironstone quarrying from the site in late 19th and early 20th century, including the remains of the lines of a tramway across the site. •Countywide collections of archaeological artefacts (to be brought to the site from their current locations and safely housed and made accessible there). The Design and Construction of the University of Sussex new Life Sciences School comprising of approximately 13,000m2 GIA from approximately 11,000m2 new build and approximately 2,000m2 of refurbishment Works with associated site works and ancillaries. The existing facilities are not conducive to collaborative working as research groups and teaching facilities are spread across many buildings on campus. A new building for the School of Life Sciences aims to bring these groups together, creating new opportunities for inter-disciplinary collaboration. The school will be accommodated in a refurbishment of an existing adjacent building - the Genome building – and a connected new build facility on the current Science Car Park, spread over three and half storeys; built to the local topography for level access points. The project has recently achieved signoff on RIBA Stage 02 Concept design with detailed design development progressing in Stage 03. It is anticipated Stage 04 design information to be available during the ITT tender stage to allow constructive workshops with short listed Main Contractors. The development is not expected to include Class 3 Laboratory space (Class 2 only) or Home Office licensed research. It is currently expected the Design Team will be novated to the Main Contractor. Construction Project at Durham Street Belfast

The former blood transfusion centre site is located on the stretch of Durham Street between Divis Street and Grosvenor Road, just opposite the junction with College Square North. It is a corner site at the junction of Durham Street and Albert Street at the other side of Albert Street from Citylink Business Park a modern development of office accommodation. The rest of the area is made up of low rise social housing dwellings. The former Blood Transfusion centre lies derelict and has suffered from vandalism over the years. The original building is grade B1 listed and will be retained as part of the proposals for the redevelopment of the site. Laboratories built in later years to the rear of the building are to be demolished as part of the works. The current proposal for this scheme is to convert the existing and extend the listed building to provide 4no. 2p 1b CAT1 apartments and 8no. 3p 2b CAT1 apartments. The current proposal also includes to build 5no 5p 3b houses, 5no 3p 2b houses and 1no. 5p 3b complex needs house (23 units in total). The proposal will require the demolition of the existing extensions to the listed building which contain asbestos. All the dwellings are to be constructed to Lifetime Homes, Secured by Design standards.
