South Asia Subregional Economic Cooperation (SASEC) Roads Improvement Project

Invitation for Bids
1. The Government of Nepal has applied for financing from the Asian Development Bank
(ADB) towards the cost of SASEC Roads Improvement Project (SRIP). Part of this financing
will be used for payments under the Contract(s) named above. Bidding is open to Bidders from
eligible source countries of the ADB.
2. The Ministry of Physical Infrastructure and Transport, Department of Roads,
Project Directorate (ADB), Kathmandu, Nepal (“the Employer”) invites sealed bids from
eligible Bidders for the construction and completion of Narayanghat – Butwal Road from Km
0+575 to Km 113+535 with the road sections and contracts as below at Nawalparasi and
Rupandehi districts of Nepal (the “Works”). Works include earthwork, pavement, surface
dressing and asphalt concrete bituminous works, masonry, concrete, bridge construction and
road safety works, etc. under Phase 1: Upgrading Works including the PBM maintenance works
consisting of all activities to be carried out to achieve and keep the road assets as defined in the
Specifications under Phase 2: Performance Based Maintenance Works.

Bidders may bid for one or several contracts, as further defined in the bidding document.
Bidders wishing to offer discounts in case they are awarded more than one contract will be
allowed to do so, provided those discounts are included in the Letter of Price Bid.
3. Bidders are requested to specify the total price of the Bid in the Letter of Price Bid or the
Total Bid Price in the Summary of Bill of Quantities. Failure to specify the total price of the Bid in
the Letter of Price Bid or in the Summary of Bill of Quantities may be ground for declaring the
Bid nonresponsive.
4. International competitive bidding will be conducted in accordance with ADB’s Single-
Stage: Two – Envelope bidding procedure and is open to all Bidders from eligible countries as
described in the Bidding Document.

Kathmandu Valley Water Supply Improvement Project – Additional Financing

Invitation for Bids
1. The Government of Nepal has received financing from Asian Development Bank (ADB)
towards the cost of Kathmandu Valley Water Supply Improvement Project – Additional
Financing. Part of this financing will be used for payments under the Contract named above.
Bidding is open only to bidders from eligible source countries of the ADB.
2. Project Implementation Directorate, Kathmandu Upatyaka Khanepani Limited (“the
Employer”) invites sealed bids from eligible bidders, based on post-qualification criteria, for the
construction and completion of the Works as described below.
3. The “Works” mainly comprise of laying of approximately 35 km of DI pipe &150km of
HDPE pipes with necessary fittings, valves; road reinstatement and black topping works, etc.
4. International Competitive Bidding will be conducted in accordance with ADB’s Single
Stage: Two Envelope bidding procedure and is open to all Bidders from eligible countries as
described in the Bidding Document.
5. Only experienced and eligible bidders with the following key qualifications should
participate in this bidding:
• Minimum average annual construction turnover of US$32.20 million or equivalent
calculated as total certified payments received for contracts in progress or completed
within last five (5) years.
• Participation in at least one contract that has been successfully or substantially
completed within the last seven (07) years and that is similar to the proposed works,
where the value of the Bidder's participation exceeds US$ 32.20 million or equivalent.
• Participation as contractor, management contractor, or subcontractor of 180 km
(cumulative) of DI and HDPE pipe line works in one contract within the last seven (07)
years, that have been successfully or are substantially completed and that are similar to
the proposed works.
• Participation as contractor, management contractor, or subcontractor of 275,000 sqm
(cumulative) of bituminous black topping work or 11500 cum (cumulative) of bituminous
asphalt concrete works in one contract within the last seven (07) years, that have been
successfully or are substantially completed and that are similar to the proposed work.

• An electronic copy of the bidding documents will also be provided on CD to all
purchasers of the bidding documents. In the event of any discrepancy between hard
copy bidding documents and soft copy bidding documents, the hard copy shall
govern.  Bidders shall use the purchased hard copy of the bidding documents furnished

8. A pre-bid meeting shall be held at 2 PM (NST) on 15 January 2017 at PID Office at

Lumbini Clean Public Transport Project under South Asia Tourism Infrastructure Development Project

1. The Government of Nepal has received a grant from the Asian Development Bank (ADB)
towards the cost of the Lumbini Clean Public Transport Project under the South Asia Tourism
Infrastructure Development Project. Part of the grant will be used for payments under the
