Program to Support Integrated Early Childhood Development
The program will support the implementation of the Strategy for Integral Early Childhood Development in the country's most vulnerable parishes to contribute to the overall development of the children under 5 years of age, through the coordinated delivery of nutritional and maternal and child health services, early child development services for children under 36 months, and early education for children from 3 to 5 years of age. The program finances 4 components. The first component of US$17 million will strengthen primary healthcare and nutritional services for women and children under 5 years, supporting the implementation of the new Comprehensive Health Care Model. The Ministry of Public Health will execute the activities of this component. The second component of US$16 million will support the construction of the and implementation of the early child development model (children under 36 months), which includes two modalities: Early Childcare Center for "the Good Life" and Raising our Children, a modality of household visits and counseling. The Ministry for Economic and Social Inclusion through the Institute for Children and the Family will execute the activities of this component. The third component of US$10 million will support the expansion of supply and improvement in quality of early education for children 3 to 5 years of age. The Ministry of Education will execute the activities of this component. The fourth component of US$5 million will support the implementation of the EDII with a territorial focus, in the prioritized parishes, and the consolidation of the intervention model to allow its implementation at a national scale. The Ministry of Coordination of Social Development will execute the activities of this component. The MCDS will execute the totality of the program with the la participation of the mentioned sub-executors. Conditional budgetary transfers will be made to the sub-ejecutor so that they may execute the programmed interventions in the prioritized parishes.
