High Bridge Canal Bridge carries Navvy Lane over the Notton Cut of the disused Barnsley Canal to the east of Notton.
The deck of the bridge comprises a reinforced deck slab over the original steel buckle plates carried on transverse joists. The deck is carried on three steel plate girders spanning between brickwork abutments.
The works comprise refurbishment of the bridge: -
a) Traffic management.
b) Maintenance painting of the exposed steelwork of the bridge including: -
; i. plate girders
; ii. transverse joints
; iii. steel buckle plates
; iv. horizontal bracing
; v. vertical cross bracing
c) Maintenance painting of the steel parapets
d) Replacement of parapet meshing.
e) Single stone repair under central girder.
f) Re-pointing of parapet coping joints to wing walls.
g) Power washing of brickwork to abutments and wing walls.
h) Application of anti-graffiti coating to abutments.
