Construction for the Paradise Dam Improvement Project - Stage 2

This Scope describes the works to be undertaken as part of the Dam Safety Improvement Project Stage 2 at Paradise Dam.  The works include strengthen of monolith D and K and other ancillary works.

Paradise Dam is situated approximately 20 kms north-west of Biggenden and 80 kms south-west of Bundaberg on the Burnett River at AMTD 131.4 km. The maximum height of the structure is 52 m with the primary construction material being roller compacted concrete (RCC). The dam creates a 45 km long narrow reservoir, with a surface area of 3,000 ha and a storage volume of 300,000 ML.

The Scope of Works includes the following:

  • Strengthen of the Toe at Monoliths D and K;
  • Repairs to the concrete on the Left Bank Spillway Training Wall;
  • Supply and Installation of Baulk between Dam Crest and Intake Tower Stairs;
  • Construction of a suitable access crossing downstream of the dam;
  • Protection of the left bank (Provision Item)

NORTH QUEENSLAND REGION, NORTHERN DISTRICT - Expression of Interest for the Design and Construction of the Haughton River Floodplain Upgrade Project

The Haughton River Floodplain Upgrade Project scope includes a major road and bridge upgrade to a 14km section of Bruce Highway between Ayr and Townsville. 

TMR are seeking Expressions of Interest from suitably TMR pre-qualified construction contractors (R4, B4, F150+) to undertake the Detailed Design and Construction of the Haughton River Floodplain Upgrade Project.    The project will be delivered via a competitive Early Contractor Involvement (ECI) procurement process.

Project background,  Tendering Forms and Schedules, and the Draft Stage One contract  are provided  as part of this “Request for Proposal” documentation and are attached for download.

Design, Construction and Delivery of One (1) 5.5 - 6.5 metre Class 2C Vessel and Trailer

The purpose of this vessel is to allow for monitoring and compliance relating to areas outside Marine Park within the Northern Region. Current vessels in the region are not capable of operating in anything more than moderate conditions, the addition of a larger vessel aims to significantly increase the regions capabilities.

The vessel and trailer must be completed, with final acceptance and delivery to Townsville before 1st of June, 2016

Vessel Design / Construction
• Vessel must be 5.5 to 6.5 meters in length, of alloy construction.
• Must be a stable work platform in moderate seas/open water.
• Vessel must have underfloor fuel storage of at least 150 litres.
• Vessel must have twin 4-stroke outboard engines powered suitably for the vessel.
• Vessel must allow staff shelter from inclement weather and sun exposure.
• Side coaming storage for equipment to a length of 2.5m
• Electric Anchor Winch suitable to lift recommended anchor weight.
• Navigation lights as required.
• Separate battery compartment.
• Automatic bilge pump and manual backup bilge pump.
• Hull paint and cabin paint to be black in colour.
• Rear boarding ladder – minimum two step
• Cantilever swivel seats in front and rear fold down seats.
• Electronics fitted including, but not limited to;
    o VHF Radio
    o Chart plotter and echo sounder to be at least 7 inches of Garmin or Lowance manufacture.
    o Internal lighting
• Gauge systems for fuel, tilt/trim, battery charge and gauges to monitor engines.
• Vessel must have tie-down points and bollards suitable to allow the towing tender or similar equipment.
• Able to carry four staff.
• Able to carry at least 250kg of weight additional to personal weight.
• The vessel must be registered for 12 months.

Trailer Specification/requirements
• Vessel and Trailer to be no greater than 7.5 meters on trailer.
• Swing up jockey wheel
• Must have the entire trailer base walkable, i.e., aluminium mesh grill over entirety of trailer base.
• Compliant with Transport and Main Roads requirements.
• Compliant with any and all environmental standards.
• The trailer must be registered for 12 months.

JCU has committed to establishing a series of continuous undercover walkways that will provide linkages to the academic core of the University and join the student retail, student service, teaching and administrative functions via a number of strategically positioned connections (nodes). 

These nodes will create opportunities for spontaneous interaction between students and staff, as well as providing all-weather study zones that enable a closer connection with the surrounding environment. The works will generally consist of concrete pathways with cantilevered steel portal frames and roof structure, providing all-weather undercover access to the southern areas of the academic core.

Youth Foyer Initiative - Townsville

The Department of Housing and Public Works is seeking proposals for an innovative housing and support solution, for young people aged 16 - 25 years old in Townsville, who are homeless or at risk of homelessness, and who commit to engage in education or training. The education and employment outcomes will enhance independence and capacity to live fulfilling, productive lives and minimise the threat of permanent homelessness. The Youth Foyer model is internationally recognised for providing secure and affordable housing while delivering social and economic benefits for young people and the community. The department is interested in proposals with a Youth Foyer approach, and in other similar proposals which will deliver innovative housing pathways for vulnerable young people.

There three key deliverables for this initiative are:

  1. supply or identify appropriate land to construct a purpose-built, supportive housing development in Townsville, with up to 40 units of accommodation, which provides young people with connections to facilities appropriate to their needs.
  2. provide specialist homelessness services, targeted at young people 16-25 years old, to deliver high quality support services. Services will be initially contracted for two years after the construction has been completed.
  3. provide property and tenancy management services, integrated with the provision of specialist homelessness services. Services will be initially contracted for two years after the construction has been completed.

This Expression of Interest (EOI) is designed to identify organisations who, either individually or as a consortium, have the experience, capacity and capability to deliver all components of this initiative, including land, construction, property and tenancy management support services, however the department will consider submissions for:

  • land and construction only and
  • property and tenancy management and support services only.

Please note: EOI submissions are not being sought from equipment suppliers, designers, consultants, maintenance contractors or sub-contractors.
