The contract(s) are for the provision of window cleaning services across the University Estate. This requirement is split into two (2) Lots: Lot 1 covers the traditional (non-specialist) cleaning of external and internal windows across City, Walsall, Telford Campuses and University of Wolverhampton Science Park. SPECIFICATION STANDARD
EXTERNAL WINDOWS

Window cleaning must take place during daylight hours, between the hour of 06.00 & 18.00 hrs. Monday to Friday During the months of April and September. Working outside of these core hours must be through prior arrangement with the Estates Department.
Windows shall be washed clean and free of streaks, smears and visible soap residue. Accumulated dirt, paint specks, or other foreign debris must be scraped from windows. Ground floor door / window frames shall be cleaned to remove all dried dirt, insects, debris and other materials. Window sills shall be washed clean and all water marks wiped dry.
Where automated doors are involved the contractor is to liaise with the Estates Department to isolate the doors temporally. These areas are to be clean outside of core operational hours.

INTERNAL ENTRANCES DOORS AND WINDOWS

SUPPLIES AND EQUIPMENT The Contractor must provide all equipment and supplies needed to carry out the window washing services specified, at no extra cost to The Grimsby Institute Group. All equipment and supplies used must be capable of performing all operations in accordance with current legal specifications, legislation and industry best practice.
EQUIPMENT AND SAFETY
Prior to commencing works, all Contractor equipment’s shall be safety checked to conform to all Health & Safety regulations. The Grimsby Institute Group reserves the right to request the removal from the work site any supplies and/or equipment it deems does not meet the aforementioned codes or regulations. In addition, The Grimsby Institute may request the halt of any unsafe practices observed in carrying out the contracted service. This will in no way relieve the Contractor of complying with the window cleaning schedule.
Permits to work must be obtained at each cleaning cycle of the contract from the Grimsby Institute H&S Team.
SAFETY DATA SHEETS Prior to starting works at each cycle of the contract, must provide all relevant documentation licences and training details to satisfy the issuing of permits to work.


SAFETY AND OVERHEAD WORKS The window cleaning Contractor shall close off area(s) and post signs indicating the area(s) are closed to pedestrian traffic when working over entrances, walkways or any area where people might cross below workers. Signs must indicate that operatives are working above. All equipment, apparatus or hoses on the ground level shall also be marked off with cones and signs warning pedestrian traffic. Contractor shall provide al safety cones and signs.
DAMAGE The Contractor shall inform the Estates Officer of any damage to windows or deterioration to frames

The programme of works for both campuses over the next four years will include the construction of further buildings at the SAIBC and potentially some rationalisation of the existing accommodation on the Singleton site. Therefore, the actual cleaning requirements cannot be further clarified at this current time, and some degree of flexibility will be required of the successful supplier as to adjustment of the cleaning programme. It is envisaged that close liaison between the success supplier and the Campus Services team will help to minimise the impact of any changes, and the cleaning schedule will be agreed on an annual basis to ensure the least amount of disruption to the University’s activities.
