The University of Sunderland is committed to providing a highly efficient, proactive and flexible range of modern front line services that offer value for money and excellent customer service. Therefore, we are seeking to procure the services of a contractor to provide cleaning services to a high profile visitor attraction, offices and workshop areas, and, Summer Deep Cleaning and 52 weeks per year cleaning support in Residential Areas. Whilst offering a quality service, it is important to enhance our commitment to minimising the effect of our activities on the environment by reducing consumption, re-using materials, recycling and working towards reducing landfill waste. High Level Cleaning in the NGC This has been a bi-annual clean of the ductwork in the Glass and Ceramics/ Foundation and workshop areas, including the tops of any of the partition walls. In the Shop/ Brasserie, there is a roof of an internal tenant studio that requires cleaning. Any high level steelwork around the windows in the shop/ brasserie is done at the same time as the windows. Gutter Cleaning Annual clean of all low level gutters and biannual clean of the high level gutters. Work will include detailed photographic survey and report on gutters and roof areas. Contract may include minor repairs and replacements. Window Cleaning Annual clean of all internal and external windows to non residential buildings. Residential buildings only have the external windows cleaned once a year. Some buildings have ad-hoc external window cleaning. Windows cleaners also clean high level steelwork at NGC when cleaning windows and there are some high level external areas at Panns Bank site that are cleaned with the windows. The also carry out some gutter cleaning over and above the annual gutter clean. Feminine Hygiene Provision of Sanni Bins, Nappy Bins and Vending Machines. Service between 2, 4 or 6 weeks depending on the occupancy of the building. May also include provision and servicing of special individual clinical type waste containers.

The School currently manages its own cleaning services but now wishes to contract out this service with the aim of providing a reliable high quality cleaning service. The requirement will be for cleaning the existing buildings and also the new sixth form building which is due to open September 2015. The contract is to commence on 1.9.2015 for a period of 3 years, with the option to extend for a further 2 years. Experience of providing cleaning services within secondary schools is essential and references will be sought from existing clients.
