Puffin Produce Ltd is Wales’ largest premier Potato and Vegetable packing firm. Based in Haverfordwest, Pembrokeshire and established in 1995 the business is wholly owned by the farmers and growers who supply them. The company has grown year on year over the last five years. Puffin Produce Ltd’s growth has been built on proactive engagement with the major retailers and their ability to secure contracts with Asda, Tesco, Sainsbury, Morrisons, Waitrose, M&S and Aldi. In order to maintain supply contracts with these leading retailers, Puffin Produce has been at the forefront of continuous development that includes expansion of its facilities and range to motivate increased sales and product marketability. Puffin Produce plan investment by further increasing scale, efficiency and infrastructure of their current potato operation. As such, they are currently developing an improved process area requiring new equipment for cleaning, polishing and grading received ware potatoes. This invitation to tender is in request of quotes from specialist manufacturer suppliers for a complete handling solution for the automated internal transport and storage of Puffin’s potatoes prior to final packing of a retail product. Project Overview: Boxes to be handled: Type: HDPE rigid plastic boxes Length: 1,300 mm Width: 1,150 mm Height: 1,250 mm Potato product to be transported within following areas: 1) Washing area 2) Warehouse area 3) Grading area 4) Box tipper & packing lines Handling capacity: Washing area: 2 x 15 ton / hour Warehouse area: 100 ton / hour Grading area: Existing Celox line 15 ton / hour Inspection table 1 10 ton / hour Inspection table 2 10 ton / hour Inspection table 3 6 ton / hour Equipment Required: Transport function Type: Roller Conveyor Chassis: Sheet metal Drive: motorised gearbox Protection: All chains covers in stainless steel (CE accredited) Finish: Hot dip galvanised Box tippers Type: Mobile Rotation: By traction motorised-gearbox, gentle rotation to protect product. Washing area consists of: - transporting empty boxes to filling lines - 4 filling lines - transport of full boxes to warehouse - Installation and commission - Safety panels around all moving parts - CE accredited 2. Warehouse area consists of: - automatic warehouse - 2 cranes – roof mounted - IPS/Dolav boxes delivered - automated In/Out functionality on ground level - Input & Output conveyors in warehouse - Input box conveyor on second level - Output box conveyor on box tipper level 3. Grading area consists of: - full box conveyor to box tipper - empty box conveyor from box tipper to filling lines - mobile box tipper - hoppers (with buffer storage) with conveyors on existing celox line. - 4 filling lines for existing celox - 3 inspection tables - 3 filling lines for A-grade potatoes - 3 filling lines for B-grade potatoes - full box conveyor from filling area to warehouse - safety barriers - Installation & commissioning - CE accreditation 4. Box tipper area and packing lines consists of: - full box conveyor from warehouse to box tipper area - mobile box tipper - empty box conveyor from box tipper to warehouse - 5 hoppers (buffer storage) with conveyor - feeding conveyors to weighers - conveyors for 4 lines - maintenance platform - Installation and commissioning - CE accredited The ultimate goal is to optimise our processes and handle our products better within a clean and quiet working environment.
