Gilberd School is a mixed 11-16 comprehensive school of currently 1 463 students rising to 1 620 within the next 3 years. The school was formed in 1958 but moved to its current site in 1980 where a vast amount of expansion has taken place to accommodate the increasing student roll. The school is currently rated Good by Ofsted with aspirations to being an Outstanding school. All the school buildings are contained within the boundaries of one site in the centre of the Highwoods development in the centre of Colchester.

The school has many excellent facilities including a new sports hall to add to the existing one, gym, a Performing Arts block, as well as well-maintained other school buildings. The Gilberd prides itself in providing an excellent environment for students that is conducive to enhanced teaching and learning.

The cleaning contract will commence on 27.11.2017 for an initial period of 3 years, with the opportunity to extend for a further period of a maximum of 2 years. The contract shall commence on the site of the Gilberd School in Colchester.

The school site must at all times meet health, safety and environmental standards appropriate to the site and its use and the successful Supplier must comply with the Client's health, safety and environmental policies and procedures. The services must be provided so as not to interrupt the routine of the school site.

The scope of the contract covers all cleaning provision within school buildings.

The Gilberd School is partnered with Manningtree High school whose cleaning service is currently delivered in-house. There will possibly be an option within the contract for cleaning services at Manningtree School to be delivered by the successful supplier however the supplier will be expected to quote separately for this additional optional work package.
