KCC is a four star authority; delivering one of the lowest council tax rates of any County Council. Bold Steps for Kent is our new medium term plan to 2014/15. It is a blueprint for the future of local government and local public service delivery. At the heart of Bold Steps for Kent is the need to change the way we work, not only to improve our own services, but also to reflect the changing shape of wider public services.  Our priority in procurement is to improve how we procure and commission services. We aim to do this by:

·         Delivering value for KCC by reducing cost or improving results for the same cost;

·         Managing risk through developing clear processes and appropriate governance; and

·         Helping the Kent Economy Grow through helping local business to realise their full potential

The Libraries, Registration & Archives Vision states that we expect our libraries to be welcoming places for our customers to visit and this contract is part of maintaining standards of cleanliness and hygiene that our customers have come to expect.

The Council is seeking a supplier to clean public use PCs, scanners and printers housed in Kent’s public libraries. Cleaning will be undertaken on a quarterly basis and access to the equipment will be restricted to the opening hours of individual libraries which may be irregular.

It is anticipated that the contract shall cover 712 public use PCs plus peripherals, 18 public use laptops, 84 public use scanners and 111 public use printers spread across 99 libraries throughout the county, however, it should be noted that these figures are subject to change.

It is anticipated that the contract will commence in October 2013 and will continue for a period of 2 years unless terminated in accordance with the Conditions of Contract attached in this Invitation to Tender. The contract can be extended for up to a maximum of a further 1 year at the Council's discretion.

Full details of the service specification can be found in the Invitation to Tender documentation which is available through the Kent Business Portal.
