FIRMSSELECTION) Credit No.: IDA 5199 - MZ Assignment Title: HEALTH, SAFETY AND ENVIRONMENT RISK IN SOLID MINING INDUSTRY Reference No.: C72 ?C2.2 The Government of Mozambique has received financing from the World Bank toward the cost of theMining andGas Technical AssistanceProject (MAGTAP), and intends to apply part ofthe proceeds for consulting services. The consulting services ("the Services") include: (i) Conduct an assessment to identify specifictraining needs on risk prevention techniques in the extractive industry for solid minerals, and (ii) Design and implement trainingprograms for seventeen (17) Technicians taking into consideration the current Health and Technical Safety Regulations ingeologic-mining activities. The Ministry of Mineral Resources and Energy now invites eligible consulting firms ("Consultants") to indicate their interest in providing the Services. InterestedConsultants should provide informationdemonstrating that they have the required qualifications and relevantexperience to performthe Services. The shortlisting criteria are: (i) Experience in providing training courses related to risk prevention at working areas atheights, blocking and signalizationtechniques of working areas and risk areas, slope stabilization techniques, risk prevention in blastingactivities, risk preventionin chemical products storage, and risk prevention at electrical works, and (ii) international experience including working in developing countries, particularly inAfrica. The attention of interested Consultants is drawn to paragraph 1.9 of the World Bank's Guidelines: Selection and Employment of Consultants under IBRD Loans and IDACredits & Grants by World Bank Borrowers, January 2011 ("ConsultantGuidelines"), setting forth the World Bank's policy on conflictof interest. Consultants may associate with other firms in the form of a joint venture or a subconsultancy toenhance their qualifications. When expressing interest in association, consultants are encouraged to state the form ofassociation. A  Consultant will be selectedin accordance with the Consultants' Qualifications Selection (CQS) method set out in the ConsultantGuidelines.
