Scottish Borders Council wishes to invite submissions from tenderers to provide the services in the Café at Harestanes Countryside Visitor Centre, by Ancrum, Jedburgh. This service is required for the duration of the season, between the hours of 10.00am and 5pm every day and at such other times as the Council may instruct.
The contract will commence on 1st March 2016 and will expire on the 28th February 2017 for season 24 March-31 October 2016 daily.

Feasibility Study for Oriel Davies, Newtown Oriel Davies is a leading gallery of Wales and the most important visual arts venue in Powys. Between 2001 and 2004 our gallery premises went through a highly successful 2-Phase refurbishment programme. We wish to appoint an Arts Business Consultant to lead on a Feasibility Study for a 3rd Phase, to further develop gallery’s facilities for a strong and sustainable future. Oriel Davies is an independent contemporary art gallery, showing and touring the best visual art and craft from Wales and beyond. We are admired for our beautiful exhibition spaces, innovative artistic & learning programmes and excellent café and shop. Oriel Davies is based in the centre of Newtown, Powys’s largest town, and attracts c.75,000 visits annually. Expressions of interest and tenders are invited from Arts Business Consultants by 30 September 2015. The fee for the Arts Business Consultant is £10,000 + VAT The role of the Arts Business Consultant:- The Arts Business Consultant will work with the gallery to: - Select and appoint a Design Team to develop the project up to RIBA Work Stage 2. This should include fine-tuning of the Draft Design Brief. - Advise the Gallery on updating its Business Plan and staffing structure - Undertake consultation with the main stakeholders - Advise on a consultant to undertake public consultation - Advise on appointment of other specialist consultants: retail, catering, renewable energy - Advise on an effective fundraising strategy to help realise the full capital project Closing date for tenders is 30 September 2015 Candidates will be informed by 7 October if they have been shortlisted for interview. Scottish Borders Council (SBC) has recently approved funding for the construction of 2 new primary school (PS) buildings, 1 at Broomlands PS in Kelso and the other at Langlee PS in Galashiels.

SBC intends to appoint a contractor(s) to carry out and complete the design, construction and delivery. It is anticipated that the existing design team will have completed the design to RIBA Stage 3 at the point of tender, the existing design team will be novated to the successful contractor(s). Details of design team as detailed below:

Architect — Stallan Brand;

Mechanical and Electrical Engineer — Davie McCulloch;

Civil and Structural Engineer — Goodson Associates Ltd;

Landscaping — LDA Design;

Fire Engineer — Atelier Ten;

Acoustician — New Acoustics.

Broomlands PS will be spread over 2 floors with an approx. GIFA of 3 200m2. Langlee PS will be spread over 3 floors with an approx. GIFA of 4 100m2.

Both schools will incorporate a nursery, primary teaching rooms, games hall, catering kitchen, dining facilities, MUGA pitch and associated staff accommodation areas. In addition, Langlee PS will also incorporate separate. Additional Support Needs teaching areas.

It is anticipated each development(s) will be built alongside the existing school(s), which will be in occupation during the duration of the construction period. Once the development(s) has been completed and the school transferred to the new building(s), the original building(s) will be demolished to make way for landscaping and car parking.

SBC's principal objectives are to deliver innovative educational and community facilities that make a significant contribution and presence within the communities which they serve.

Contractor(s) selected for the tender stage will be required to be fully accredited SSIP members of Constructionline in-line with SBC's Corporate Control of Contractors Policy.
