TENDER BRIEF Cumbria Business Growth Hub Family Business Network 1. Aims and objectives This tender is issued by the Cumbria Chamber of Commerce as part of Cumbria Business Growth Hub. The Growth Hub is aimed at encouraging and supporting business growth throughout Cumbria. Following the successful family business network established under the previous ERDF project, we would like to continue to offer specialist support for family businesses across the County. The aim is to provide a relevant range of support and services to family businesses to help them to grow and increase their competitiveness, creating the jobs and improved performance needed to boost economic growth, working in cooperation with the wider project. The delivery organisation will be expected to provide a Family Business Network, as a minimum: • Running the family business network, working constructively with other elements of the Growth Hub Project • Recruiting eligible clients to the network • Arranging and running an appropriate range of activities for eligible Cumbrian family run businesses including, but not limited to, events and networking • Developing the online family business area of web portal, including appropriate content, and drive the use of this, including forum activity The delivery organisation may choose to suggest further activities. One-to-one support will be offered through the wider project, not through the network. 2. Cumbria Chamber of Commerce has for the past 3 years run the BSUS (Business Start-Up Support) project for Cumbria. Having being awarded the next round of funding to deliver a follow-on project for the next 3 years we are needing to procure for community outreach work in the Furness area. Specific requirements We are looking for an individual willing to make connections and provide basic self-employment support to a variety of groups and networks in the Furness area ensuring anyone interested in self-employment or eligible for post-start support is fed into the BSUS programme and our three day business course. Suggested groups and networks include but are not exclusive to: • Women's networks/ WIs • First time mums groups/Parent and toddler groups • BME groups • Schools/FE colleges • Disabled groups • Youth clubs/groups • Jobcentre Plus • Social enterprise networks • Rural communities You will be required to: • Make initial contact and attend groups where appropriate and thereafter maintain an ongoing relationship • Work alongside local schools and colleges to promote self-employment and feed into the BSUS programme • Promote and sign people up to BSUS support • Promote attendance of the three day course and other free training provided through the BSUS programme in the area • Signpost to other relevant organisations The successful individual will work alongside the BSUS Project Manager to develop material and presentations to be used ensuring a highly professional service which meets the needs of participants and contributes to the projects overall targets.

Background and aims We have a need to procure a pool of providers to deliver tactical workshops to Cumbrian SMEs as part of intensive business support programmes aimed at enhancing their growth, competitiveness and profitability. We are looking, within the pool, for a range of topics and for providers to facilitate and present half and full day workshops across Cumbria in line with client needs and interests. Proposals are welcome from individuals and from organisations. Specific requirements A range of tactical workshops, tailored to suit the needs of Cumbrian SMEs, to be offered as part of intensive support to: • ERDF eligible businesses (in essence most B2B SMEs) through the ERDF Growth Hub project • Non ERDF eligible businesses through the Cumbria LEP growth hub service and Growth Hub provision funded by local authorities (primarily retail, consumer services, agriculture, visitor economy and nuclear) Note: there are also opportunities to work with the Chamber on its commercial offer, Chamber Business Solutions, which we may approach you separately about. You will be required to: • Design and deliver your workshop(s) and any supporting materials, branded in line with Chamber/Growth Hub, ERDF and other funder requirements, to be delivered in suitable venues anywhere in the county • Ensure clients participating in the workshops fully and correctly complete all relevant project paperwork • Work with the Growth Hub to generate interest in attending the workshops and engage businesses in signing up to support • Ensure a highly professional service which meets the needs of participants and partners and contributes to the projects' overall targets. Topics, locations and timings will be in line with identified client needs and interests. Venue and refreshment costs will normally be arranged and paid for by the Growth Hub. If your proposal includes venue and refreshments please make this clear and explain your reasoning. Cumbria Business Growth Hub Cumbria Business Growth Hub supports the growth and competitiveness of Cumbrian businesses, helping to unleash the potential of Cumbria’s businesses, acting as a focal point for businesses that wish to be sustainable, increase their competitiveness and grow, driving activity, providing a focus for access to support and providing relevant support and programmes, complementing and referring into what currently exists. Central to activities is the existing Cumbria Business Growth Hub web portal that promotes the range of information, support and opportunities, public and private, relevant to business growth and incorporate online tools, support and forums. The portals make innovative use of new and emerging technologies to provide a range of networking, collaboration, information dissemination and learning products and services utilising, for example, smartphones, iPads, Twitter, social media technologies, videoconferencing and virtual classrooms. We are looking to procure maintenance and hosting of the web portal We are seeking an ISO27001 accredited company to provide the following support and hosting of the existing Cumbria Business Growth Hub web portal for up to three years over the length of the project. Please can all quotes include the following work: • Hosting • Provision of substantive changes if required- Please include an indicative cost for substantive changes (hourly rate) • Maintenance, support and routine updating (such as changes to text where is cannot be altered by us in the CMS) The work must adhere to the ISO27001 standard.
