The services required involve the following: — regional forest inventories in the regions of Kayes, Koulikoro, Sikasso and Ségou: * drawing up maps showing agricultural occupation, vegetation formation and forest formations, and a summary overview map showing the various formations; * training staff working on the forestry information system (SIFOR) and at the National Directorate of Water and Forests (DNEF), — drawing up methodological guides on forest inventory, — assessing the dynamics of the development of vegetation cover in comparison with the data for 1991 compiled by PIRL (woodland resources inventory project), — providing the National Directorate of Water and Forests with decision-making tools to sustainably manage woodland resources in the 4 regions of Mali and to determine the carbon-sequestration potential of woodlands, — defining an assessment strategy for the development of diverse forest formations at regional and municipal levels. As regards the forestry inventory on a municipal scale, it will be carried out in 2 test municipalities in each of the regions involved, — defining a municipal forest inventory methodology for the benefit of the users.
