Tender for Enterprise Backup Software

Local Government Management Agency | Published October 5, 2017  -  Deadline October 20, 2017
cpvs
72210000

The LGMA currently provides hosting to local authorities & LGMA business units from a primary and a secondary datacentre. Due to redevelopment, we must move/migrate/rebuild our secondary datacentre services as quickly as possible to alternative locations by the 31st December 2017. The existing backup software used by the LGMA is HP Dataprotector. Both data sites require software upgrading and most of the tape infrastructure is dated & nearing the end of its useful life. The backup method is to use file & application agents on each server that requires backing up and to stream the backups to a media agent in each security DMZ that has access to the backup media, mainly tape. Most of the servers being backed up are virtual images on our VMware infrastructure. Due to media reliability concerns, all backups are full and consequently the backup window has grown too large and impacts on production time. Rather than moving this outdated infrastructure to the new site the LGMA is taking the opportunity to overhaul its backup infrastructure. The complex multi-DMZ setup will not be moving to the new site. Instead we are taking the opportunity to change the focus of the backups to the VMware images, eliminate the use of server agents on these, and move to incremental backups on disks.

Tender for Checkpoint Security Appliances

Local Government Management Agency | Published October 5, 2017  -  Deadline October 20, 2017
cpvs
32412100, 48000000

The LGMA currently provides hosting to local authorities & LGMA business units from a primary and a secondary datacentre. Due to redevelopment, we must move/migrate/rebuild our secondary datacentre services as quickly as possible to alternative locations by the 31st December 2017. The existing main firewall infrastructure in the secondary site is two clusters of Checkpoint R75 firewalls on old Dell Poweredge servers. The infrastructure is managed by our network management provider, Exigent. This complex multi-DMZ setup will not be moving to the new site. Instead we are taking the opportunity to reduce the required DMZs to the 6 required for DR purposes and replacing the 2 clusters of old firewalls with a pair of new Checkpoint appliances more suited to this new role.

Tender for Microsoft Windows 2016 Datacentre Licensing for the LGMA

The LGMA currently provides hosting to local authorities & LGMA business units from a primary and a secondary datacentre. Due to redevelopment, we must move/migrate/rebuild our secondary datacentre services as quickly as possible to alternative locations by the 31st December 2017. A large proportion of the LGMA IT services are delivered using VMware vSphere 5.5 hosts. This is currently licensed for the hosting of our Windows 2008 R2 images by using Microsoft Windows 2008 R2 Datacentre licenses. Due to the relocation work, we will begin the process of migrating to Windows 2016 servers by building all new virtual images as Windows 2016. The Microsoft Licensing requirement that is the subject of this RFT is to ensure the LGMA meets its licensing requirements for hosting Windows 2016 server images on our virtual infrastructure.
