This particular vendor has been selected as Keysight Technologies UK Limited are the only Vendor who can provide a RF Signal Generator/Synthesizer to the required Frequency Range and are the only Vendor, in this instance,to enable the specific technical requirements of the Authority to be met.. The Authority are being offered an Ex Demonstration Unit, that will provide the value for money the organisation will require but will not compromise on the aftercare that would be attached to purchasing a new unit.

Network Rail Telecommunications (NRT) operates the UK Rail Telecoms systems owned by Network Rail. Multi-billion pound investments have seen the deployment of what is now the second largest private telecommunications network in the UK. The systems provide fixed and radio (track to train) telecommunications used for the safe and efficient use of the rail network. A further 1 000 000 000 GBP is earmarked for telecommunications investment from 2019 to 2024, with an emphasis on improving the IP capabilities of today’s largely SDH network. To support the continued investment in rail telecommunications NRT is seeking suppliers who can provide the required equipment along with services related to that equipment, covering the whole life cycle from design, through installation and commissioning to maintenance and support. Network Rail intends to create a framework contract under which to let contracts as required for the specific procurement of the aforementioned goods and services. A further 1 000 000 000 GBP is earmarked for telecommunications investment in control period 6, from 2019 to 2024, with an emphasis on improving the IP capabilities of what is a predominantly SDH network today. Network Rail is currently establishing frameworks under which to let telecommunications contracts. Each framework will contain a number of Suppliers who will be pre-qualified and eligible to bid for the contracts. Network Rail wishes to identify telecommunications equipment vendors or suppliers that can offer related services to assist the adoption and design of telecommunications equipment and its subsequent installation and configuration, from both within and outside the rail industry, who have the potential to be a framework supplier. The purpose of this notice is to inform industry of the forthcoming procurement event and to initiate a dialogue to allow network rail to refine its Lotting strategy prior to the commencement of the procurement event.
