The contract is for the purchase, installation and commissioning in the premises of Photonics and Nanostructures Laboratory in Marcoussis a scanning tunneling microscope (STM) under ultrahigh vacuum at low temperature and magnetic field . The STM will operate under ultra-high vacuum, ie at pressures below 10-10 mbar.La possible preparation chamber will also be under ultrahigh vacuum. However, at lower temperature operation (in 2K or under 1K) will improve the energy resolution, will make it easier to interpret the results and expand opportunities accessible experiences. The study of magnetic materials and the implementation of a spin-polarized STM require an external magnetic field (DC Direct fixed field of variable intensity) present in the tip-sample space. A vector magnetic field (several possible directions) is desired. The vibrations will be amortized to the maximum and electronic amplification of power and control measures should allow very low current. The contract includes a basic benefit and six additional benefits. PSE 1 Optional: Optional specific offer for wiring and sample holder for additional contacts, unused in current measures.
