The Corporate Officer of the House of Lords and Corporate Officer of the House of Commons intend to appoint 3 Companies to a framework agreement with a track record in specifying audio system design and who have an in-depth knowledge of live broadcast requirements.
Shortlisted firms will need to be able to demonstrate experience of working on integration of audio with broadcast systems and will be able to assess the suitability of designs submitted by a contractor with regard to television transmission.
The successful firms will be required to specify hardware and software solutions with awareness of the impact on business workflows and will be able to advise on appropriate procurement strategy. The firms will have a track record in creative problem solving and the ability to specify bespoke solutions where appropriate. There will also be a requirement to manage multiple contractors on occasion and ensure timely delivery of projects including acceptance testing by key stakeholders including the Parliamentary Broadcasting Unit.
Firms must also be able to demonstrate/show experience of:
Experience of the provision of sound for venues such as legislative ssemblies/councils/organisations that routinely hold large formal meetings.
An understanding of acoustics and the challenges associated with providing good sound quality (in room and for transmission) in a wide range of architectural settings.
Integration of audio with associated text and timing data.
Providing advice on hearing and visual issues for individuals.
Control of microphone selection.
Advice on developments in audio visual support for conference and meeting facilities including video conferencing.
Assist with the development, delivery and/or systems integration of the internal cable TV network, commonly referred to as the Annunciator.
