The vehicle registration solution is currently at the end of life which has provided the Driver & Vehicle Standards office with the opportunity to look at ways to improve their customer experience and reduce duplication of effort across their current systems.  Due to the number of interactions and interfaces with the LICAR (driving licence) this system will also be included.

 

The objective of the project is to replace the current vehicle registration and driving licence applications with a new application that will meet the current and future needs of the Driver & Vehicles Standard offices.

The University of St Andrews wish to engage with a selected group of Architects to complete an Architectural Design Competition. The Competition Design Submissions are for a new Music Centre located in Queen's Terrace, St Andrews and shall be completed to Design Concept standards. The architectural proposals are to be designed with flair and innovation encompassing performance interiors whilst also demonstrating that practical, cost-effective structural engineering and building services solutions have been considered. The historical significance of the new proposals on the Queen's Terrace site must reflect the surrounding heritage environment and the association to St Regulus Hall, The Bute Building and St Mary's Quadrangle. Proposals must be suitably developed to allow project concept costs and construction strategies to be prepared as well as addressing issues of sustainability, operations and maintenance. The successful architect will be required to work with, and take the lead designer responsibilities to, a wider design team procured independently by the University to complete the design to the end of RIBA Stage 2. Initial appointments will be to Stage 2 with an option to confirm continuation. As part of the Design Competition Submission the architect will be required to submit full design fees for architectural services for full project delivery. Scottish Borders Council (SBC) has recently approved funding for the construction of two new primary school (PS) buildings, one at Broomlands PS in Kelso and the other at Langlee PS in Galashiels. SBC intends to appoint a contractor(s) to carry out and complete the design, construction and delivery. It is anticipated that the existing design team will have completed the design to RIBA Stage 3 at the point of tender, the existing design team will be novated to the successful contractor(s). Details of design team as detailed below: Architect - Stallan Brand Mechanical & Electrical Engineer - Davie McCulloch Civil & Structural Engineer - Goodson Associates Ltd Landscaping - LDA Design Fire Engineer - Atelier Ten Acoustician - New Acoustics Broomlands PS will be spread over two floors with an approx GIFA of 3,200m2. Langlee PS will be spread over three floors with an approx GIFA of 4,100m2. Both schools will incorporate a nursery,primary teaching rooms, games hall, catering kitchen,dining facilities, MUGA pitch and associated staff accommodation areas. In addition, Langlee PS will also incorporate seperate Additional Support Needs teaching areas. It is anticipated each development(s) will be built alongside the existing school(s), which will be in occupation during the duration of the construction period. Once the developmen(s)has been completed and the school transfered to the new building(s),the original building(s)will be demolished to make way for landscaping and car parking. SBC's principal objectives are to deliver innovative educational and community facilities that make a significant contribution and presence within the communities which they serve. This project is part of the final phase of the States of Guernsey “Education Development Plan Programme 1” for the renewal of all of the Island’s Secondary High Schools, post-16 and Special Education facilities.

The brief is to build a replacement co-educational Secondary High School for approximately 600 pupils aged from 11 to 16 years and a collocated 2-form entry co-educational Primary School and Nursery in the Castel parish in the Island of Guernsey, on a coastal site which currently accommodates the High School and Primary School buildings to be replaced.  The present school buildings may need to remain operational during the construction of the new facilities.  New indoor and outdoor sports and community facilities will also be provided on the site.
