On behalf of the Free State of Saxony, the south wing of the castle Nossen is being renovated. The building was built between 1911-1914. During the air raids in June 1943 the building was completely gutted. From 1945 began the reconstruction of the main building until 1955, the entire main building was ready again. The existing mansard roof originally was not restored in the actual form. Instead, the building was a massive 5 Upstairs increased. Legally, the object Building Code applies to § 3 (2) sentence 2 HBauO than medium height buildings. The total floor area is approximately 13 000 m². The area is divided into offices, laboratories, seminar rooms, storage areas, personnel, function rooms and central units. The building has a main entrance and several side entrances. The building was declared a historic monument by the office as worthy of protection. Therefore, all measures consistent with the preservation and must be planned with the greatest possible flexibility in the use and allocation. The currently applicable building code regulations will not be implemented in full by these requirements. However, it must be the safety concept of the Hamburg building regulations - are met HBauO. This can be achieved with lower safety margins, so that an adequate fire protection is achieved. Despite all precautions, is an absolute protection from both the emergence and spread of damage before the fire can not be reached. As part of the structural maintenance a fire protection concept has been created with the compilation of all fire safety measures for the implementation of today's building regulations conservation objectives. In this context, there is already a building regulation approval of the competent Bauprüfabteilung. This approval provides the basis for further planning dar. Among other measures required: - fire barriers and fire dampers must be repaired or installed. - Compartments of combustible cables through various rooms / fire zones. - Concept development in the BMZ, which ensures smooth operation of the fire extinguishing - Retrofitting of smoke detectors. - The signal devices, triggering and display panels are to connect cables with functional integrity (safety power supply) of at least 30 minutes. - The safety and emergency lighting is repaired. - Other various measures of RWA, security lighting, PA, Elt, HVAC and BMA, the measure is to be conducted over a period of 5 years each during the holidays. But not so noisy services should be performed throughout the year. The architect services are advertised in a separate VOF method. Subdivision of the building into fire areas, installation of fire-resistant (T90) or fire retardant smoke-tight doors (T30 RS), fire retardant version of the ceilings in halls, corridors, etc. are mentioned here.

As a result of an energetic preliminary investigation, the following measures were defined to achieve this goal:

Replacement of luminaires equipped with fluorescent tubes considering the given architectural design against LED-operated luminaires with an average 50% higher luminaire efficiency.

Increase the energy efficiency of the ventilation and air conditioning units of heat recovery systems and install energy efficient fan motors.

Improvement and modernization of the thermal insulation of the outer wall construction (ETICS) and the foyer glazing.

Modernization of the digital infrastructure and including the associated server room cooling.

The structural measures must take into account the specific safety concerns and the particular urban traffic situation.

The planning work is carried out using energy balancing in accordance with DIN V 18599 for the optimization of energy efficiency, climate impact and economic efficiency as well as simulation methods for the qualitative and quantitative assessment of heat flows in building structures.
